Mark W. Allen, M.S., D.V.M.

Companion Animal Hospital of Plano is owned and operated by Dr. Mark W. Allen. Dr. Allen was born in Ft. Worth and raised in Odessa. He attended Texas A&M University where he received a Bachelors in Biomedical Science in 1980, a Masters in Veterinary Anatomy in 1983 and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1987. In May of 1995 he opened Companion Animal Hospital of Plano. His primary concern is to treat your pet with the best possible care and the utmost compassion. His hobbies include reading, travel and cooking.

Dr. Allen is a member (since 1987) of the following professional organizations:
  -American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA)
  -Texas Veterinary Medical Association (TVMA)
  -Dallas County Veterinary Medical Association (DCVMA)

Jennifer Hursey, Veterinary Technician

Jennifer is the senior staff member at Companion Animal Hospital. She has worked here since May of 1999. She likes to read and go to movies. She has a cat named Mayzy and a dog named Kizmet along with a turtle named Bobbie.

Grecia Vela, Veterinary Assistant

Grecia has worked here since June of 2018. She has two cats, Galileo and Catalina.

Haley James, Veterinary Assistant

Haley has worked here since August of 2021. She started as an intern from Plano Senior High. She has a dog named Kinsley.

Madison Lane, Veterinary Assistant

Madison has worked here since March of 2026. She has just finished high school and is preparing for college.

Lily, Public Relations

Lily was a stray found by a client in the middle of a very busy street in June of 2018. Fortunately she had not been hit by a car and we took her in. She can be a bit grumpy and does not like to be held. She spends a lot of her day hanging around in the client waiting room.

Peaches (Peachy Pie), Public Relations

Peaches was a stray found by a client in July of 2019. She is very friendly and outgoing. She is our emotional support cat. She recently had all her teeth removed due to severe stomatitis. She is eating much better now and is very happy.

Simon, Public Relations

Simon was a stray adopted from the Irving Animal Shelter in May of 2020. While sometimes aloof he can be very friendly.

Remington (Remi), Public Relations

Remi was a stray that came to us in January of 2022. He is very sweet and everyone wants to take him home!

Emerson (Emmy), Public Relations

Emmy was a stray that was brought to the clinic in November of 2023. She is very sweet and loves to visit with people.

Hobbes (aka Hobert), Public Relations

Hobbes was a stray that came to us in July of 2024. He is a bit rambunctious but he is a sweet boy.

Calvin, Public Relations

Calvin was a stray that was brought to the clinic in July of 2025. He had been hit by a car and had partial paralysis in his right front paw. He is much better now but still walks with a limp. It does not slow him down a bit! He is very sweet but a typical teenage boy, he likes to knock things off the counter and get into trouble.

Susie (Susie Poo), Public Relations

Susie was a kitten that was brought to the clinic in August of 2025. Her owner was moving and could not take her. She is very sweet and loving but has a bad habit of pooping outside the litterbox. She is not afraid of dogs at all.
